About the Conference

Youth empowerment is about making them grow and develop their skills. When our youth is equipped with the essential skills, those skills will help them to lead a better life later. ... Youth empowerment will help. To increase the employability of youth which will add to the GDP of the nation and national economy. Technology can help and facilitate positive psychosocial impact, as well as increased social cohesion. We will talk about projects and skills that serve the cause of education for all, inclusivity and employability with major actors in the space with the aim to inspire new projects to come.

Dr Katerina Zalamova

Dr Katerina Zalamova is a recognised Smart Cities expert with a special interest in zero waste infrastructures and the circular economy along with the adoption of digital infrastructures focused on economic development and social change. Along with her Smart City consultancy, Dr Zalamova runs the think-tank for advanced cities, CREA IDEA LAB, with the objective to transfer new technologies and circular economy knowledge to the new and growing smart societies. At CREA IDEA LAB she also fosters, mentors and supports new smart innovators and young entrepreneurs who she believes will be the next developers and applicators of the new smart cities. She is a mentor in the EU program Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs. Dr Zalamova is a member of the EU AI Alliance advising about the social impact of AI technologies.

CREA IDEA LAB

Headquartered in Barcelona Spain, with offices in Dublin, Ireland and London UK, CREA IDEA LAB is a consultancy and think tank for advanced smart cities. The company has its own R&D department and startup incubator where innovative companies are developing solutions for the Smart City market.  CREA IDEA LAB is a member of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC), EU AI Alliance, the IoT Catalan Alliance of the Catalonian Government and the Chamber of Commerce Brasil- Catalonia.  CREA IDEA LAB has its roots in Europe and as a result, we work closely with such great cities as Barcelona, Milan, Amsterdam and Eindhoven. We advocate for the purposed-centred design of the city’s infrastructures deployed through integration of its vision and understanding at all levels. We have promoted a unique city design methodology, Cities Building Futures, through our work in CREA IDEA LAB since 2014.

Jinan Karameh Chaya, PHD

Jinan Karameh Shayya is a Lebanese educator whose vision is to prepare social entrepreneurs and activists capable of solving social, economic, and environmental challenges through reorienting curricula towards Education for Sustainable Development. She holds a PHD in Education for Sustainable Development. She coordinated researches funded by Central Administration of Lebanese University-Faculty of Education and is co-author of three published research articles concerning ESD and its implementation in Lebanese Schools. She is a member of Lebanese Association for Educational Studies and a university instructor. She is a member of the Lebanese National Curriculum Development Orientation and Framework coordinated by the Lebanese Center of Educational Research and Development and World Bank. She is the director of the training institution Entrepreneur Academy Lebanon and the principal of the UNESCO ASPnet school, Al Manar Modern School – Ras el Maten-Lebanon.

Entrepreneur Academy 

Entrepreneur Academy was established in January 2017 as a training institution for preservice and in-service educators and for K -12 learners. We train educators on implementing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) which includes all the knowledge skills and values needed by the learner to become a good citizen. As well, we train students to become autonomous learners through reinforcing executive function skills.
