Do you know how many think tanks and lobbyist companies exist with the sole purpose of distorting the truth about the state and the fate of the environment?

 To get an idea of the scale of the problem we are facing, is there a dollar figure on how much money is spent each year globally by oil, gas, forestry, and other industries to distort the truth about the impact they are having on the environment?

Not being able to answer the questions above makes thinking that it be fair to say that most western democracies are in the pocket of the companies doing the most harm to the environment...and that we should not take what we are being told at face value.
